PROJECT TWO: ABSTRACT CONCLUSION
MY ARCHITECTURAL PROPOSITION
After investigating Rem Koolhaas' Maison A Bordeaux I decided to make a model to show my research and understanding . Structure, light, materiality and the constrast of public and private space prevail through the ambiguous building. A heir-achy of space is portrayed, private rooms above, a public lookout on the second level and a semi-private area at the very bottom (restaurant/studio/gallery). There are various lines of passage and entrances as circulattion is open ended. The raised platform allows for unadulterated views with the enclosed container above opening on either end for oposing views. Structurally the container appear to float through the use of bulsa/mdf. The container sits on four legs however as you follow them down, only two are securing the structure to the ground. Light eneters through strategical places openings framing the distant landscape and city. Each level gives the occupant a different atmosphere. This ambitious model explores a relationship between public and private activity in an imagined landscape.
